Lead by example.

Being an "experienced" firefighter you sure "forget" a lot when you have been gone for a while.

My husband almost died from having his appendix explode four weeks ago, so I have been nursing him back to health. I have not done much in the way of volunteering.

I hit my first call in four weeks. First my lap beat for my pack was snapped into the seatbelt. Then I made a rookie mistake. I left the truck empty handed.

The call was bs, but it could have been much more. I have so use to riding with probies members that you expect them to get the tools and do all the running. Well, we had none not this call. We were all "pack qualified" interior firefighters.

It wasn't just me. It was all of us. No hand tools, no TIC, not even a flashlight.

If you were OIC. What would you have done to us?
